DID YOU KNOW…

There are several reasons why your heating system needs a clean air filter? It’s true! As a general rule, most heating repair issues can be attributed to dirty air filters. Here are 4 main ways in which a dirty air filter can cause your heater to break down.
  1. Increased Energy Consumption– the amount of energy your heater uses largely depends on its blower fan. Since heating systems rely on air circulation, if the fan needs to work harder than usual to distribute air throughout your home, then your energy bill will ultimately be higher.
  2. Furnace Failure– The most common cause of equipment failure is a clogged or improperly positioned air filter. The blower fan wears out causing internal damage and furnace repair or replacement becomes necessary.
  3. Frozen Evaporator Coils– Clogged air filters reduce the amount of air needed to dissipate the condensation normally produced in the heating process. This condensation can freeze up, reducing the system’s ability to produce heat. If not taken care of your system is bound to break down.
  4. Inadequate Heating– A clogged air filter may reduce airflow and prevent your system from reaching the preferred temperature level in all areas of your home.

COMMON REASONS WHY YOUR FURNACE IS BLOWING COLD AIR AND SHOULD YOU HIRE THE TROPICAL PROS?

Fan settings on your thermostat may be set to “on” instead of “auto”. Changing this setting should regulate the furnace and warm air should start blowing.

The furnace is overheated. Usually, this is a result of a dirty air filter. Don’t ignore this! Left dirty, the air filter can eventually cause the furnace to overheat too often resulting in a damaged heat exchanger. A fix that should be left to the professionals at Tropical.

A faulty pilot light. Try to light it again, and check whether it stays on. If it goes right out again, this usually indicates a problem with the thermocouple. Adjusting or replacing this is more complicated and should be left to the professionals a Tropical.
